Vendor Selections for SPA 2011

It's finally here - the list of vendors who have been selected for SPA 2011! It was a tough decision this year, as always. For 24 slots, we had more than twice as many applications, all from vendors with something different and wonderful to share.

There are several new folks this year, and they are planning to knock your socks off! Our goal was to give you a group of artisans from all over New England, who will bring a wide variety of fibers, products, skills, and energy to share with you. We think these talented people will do just that, and we hope you'll agree!

Most have websites to visit; check them out (click on the website links)!

It's the (2nd) Most Happiest Time of the Year...

Last Updated: 06.03.10

NETA SPA, KNIT AND SPIN 2011

Yup, it's time - time to start planning YOUR SPA2011. Check out this and the next few listings for all the details you could possibly need.

(What's the MOST wonderful time of the year? Why, SPA2011, of course!!)

Posting #1: Dates and Locations
Spa, Knit and Spin 2011 reservations at the Harraseeket Inn, Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn will open at 7:30 AM sharp on Wednesday, June 2, 2010.

February 25-27, 2011
FYI, all lodgings have wonderful nooks and crannies for small groups to gather. The NETA Mercantile will be in the Hilton Garden Inn Ballroom and Monhegan Board Room. Spa therapy locations TBA.

Spinning, knitting and sharing circles will be throughout all three inns all weekend. Larger gatherings will be in the Harraseeket Inn's Casco Bay Ballroom all weekend, with other activities downstairs. The Harraseeket and Hilton Garden Inns are a short walking distance from one another, and both have plenty of free parking. The Hampton Inn is a five minute ride away. A Spa shuttle will run between all three inns and central Freeport shopping.

PLEASE NOTE: Both the Hilton Garden Inn and the Harraseeket Inn have implemented a change in the reservations policy this year. In past years a number of individuals have reserved 2-5 rooms under one name.  At check-in for Spa, most of these rooms are paid for by a different name with a different credit card, neither of which are on file. This has resulted in confusion for the hotels. They are requesting that EACH reserved room be in the name of and reserved under the card of the person who will be checking in for it. Please honor this request. Additionally, each year there are a few of these multiple reservation rooms that are cancelled late or not at all, and they go empty because there wasn't time or awareness to free them for someone else to fill them. This has resulted in frustration and lost revenue for the hotels, who already are generous with their discounts to us. It is not fair to the inns or to other people who want to be at Spa, so please do defer to our inns' request.

SPA FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Last Updated: 01.19.10

Q. Who are the vendors who will be at SPA 2010?
A. Click here for the complete list.

Q. Do I need to bring a chair for the common areas?
A. Nope - each venue provides numerous folding chairs (varying degrees of comfort) for each common area. However, if you have the Hummer of folding chairs and can't be comfie without your built-in cup holder, massage back and mini-TV, feel free to bring your own!

Q. So what do I bring?
A. Some suggestions:

  • If you share a room with someone, it can't hurt to bring an extra towel or two.
  • Gently used items (yarn, patterns, books, supplies, needles, whatevah) for the free table, or new items for door prizes (optional)
  • CASH and / or credit cards. Most vendors take cards, but just in case...
  • something to model in the fashion show (optional)
  • silly slippers (optional) to wear throughout your hotel
  • projects of course, although this is optional, because you will be able to shop for everything to start a new one!
  • questions for other fiber-nutz, and answers too, if you have them. there is always someone who can learn from YOU.
  • a covered drink mug - to load up on that "coffee" and avoid spills!
  • a bathing suit and workout gear if you want to swim or, well, work out...
  • a noisemaker of some sort - you'll find out why later!

Q. What are the hours for the vendor room this year?
A. Not sure yet - will post them as soon as I find them...

Coming to SPA this Year?

Last Updated: 01.07.10

It's getting close - we're starting to eye our suitcases, trying to figure out what we can pack RIGHT NOW. And projects to bring, that can be worked on over cocktails, or while sitting at the information table, or while relaxing in front of the fireplace. We're starting to remind our significant others that we WON'T BE HOME for a few nights next month - if you don't start now, they'll forget and schedule a hunting trip or some dumb thing on the same weekend, right?

This entry will collect any resources to share about Freeport, SPA in general, or in particular. Places to go, eat, shop, wander, peruse, and discover, all will be listed here.

Are you excited? Are you just quivering with an - - - - tici - - - - - PATION?

Thanks to Marsha L. for the first item! Here's a website about Freeport.
